Technical Details & Compatibility

Stellar | Photography WordPress is built on WordPress and supports custom post types for galleries and portfolios, WordPress custom menus, and unlimited sidebar creation with per-page selection. The theme has been actively maintained since its initial release in September 2014, with the latest update (V2.9.1, January 2023) adding PHP 8+ compatibility — a strong signal of ongoing developer commitment.

Compatibility highlights include WPML for multilingual sites, WP Supercache for performance caching, and CSS/JavaScript compression support to reduce load times. The theme also addresses HTTPS websites, WooCommerce comment form styling, and WordPress 5.5 compatibility in recent changelog entries. Responsive behavior can be toggled off with a single click in the backend, giving developers granular control over the mobile experience. Browser compatibility has been refined over the years, with fixes documented for Safari, IE11, and mobile environments.

Google Web Fonts (300+) are installable directly, and the theme includes extensive documentation to guide setup and customization. Child theme support ensures advanced modifications survive future updates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Stellar | Photography WordPress compatible with the latest PHP versions?

Yes. The V2.9.1 update released in January 2023 added support for PHP 8+, and earlier updates addressed PHP 7.1 and 7.2 compatibility. This makes the theme suitable for modern hosting environments, though you should always confirm your specific PHP version against the theme documentation before migrating.

Can I use Stellar for a multilingual photography website?

Absolutely. Stellar | Photography WordPress is translation-ready with included mp/po files and officially supports the WPML plugin for multi-language sites. This allows you to maintain separate language versions of your portfolio, galleries, and pages without rebuilding your content structure.

Does the theme support client proofing with private galleries?

Yes. Stellar includes password-protected gallery support, which is ideal for client proofing, private collections, or unreleased work. Combined with image gallery comments, clients can review and respond to images within a secured gallery environment.
